The original forecast tower was built according to Károly Csányi’s (architect) design, along with József Jankovics (optician), László Steiner (engineer) and József Molnár (teacher).
We can see not only the exact time but also a hydrography and weather map, a barometer function and a windsock on top of the 9 meter tall tower.
The original was built at this same location in 1903 for this purpose (as the text on the tower reads): “This clock is to show good weather and the right time to the citizens of Győr and to others also!”
During World War II when the bridge was bombed the tower was also destroyed. The tower that we can see today was built in 1991 by the Városszépítő Association.
