It is always a great experience to have a bird's eye view of the landscape below. Győr's iconic building, the Bishop's Castle, is almost 40 metres high and has a square truncated tower with 206 stairs leading up to it. The stairs are well worth the effort, as you can see the city centre, Radó Island and the confluence of the rivers from the top.
A little further from the city centre, the Xantus János Zoo is home to more than 900 animals of almost 150 species. With its many colourful programmes, it offers a full day of entertainment for young and old alike every day of the year: animal feeding, elephant training, penguin walks, animal shows and interactive experiences await the visitors. The zoo playhouse also features a petting zoo, a huge play area and a bouncy castle.
Located in one of the most beautiful parts of the city centre, on a peninsula where the Mosoni-Danube and Rába rivers meet, the world's first 7-star water park is home to 21 indoor and outdoor pools, a spectacular children's water kingdom and an exclusive Japanese sauna world.
The main attraction of the park is the 32-metre soda siphon slide tower, topped by a panoramic lift, and light shows impress the visitors in the evenings.
Many people don't know that Győr is a city of rivers, its special character is defined by the confluence of the Rába, the Rábca, the Mosoni-Danube and the Marcal river. The beauty and unique atmosphere of the city centre can be admired by cruising on the rivers, an unforgettable experience and a pleasant relaxation for all ages.
The Mobilis Science Centre is a playful, experiential way to get closer to the world of science and technology.
There are exciting activities for young and old alike: digital workshops, interactive play areas, family experiments, robot games, a science park, as well as spectacular experimental demonstrations, VR, an F1 racing simulator and escape room.
For more than three decades, the city of Győr has been home to the Hungarian factory of Audi, which is also the world's largest engine plant. A guided tour gives you an insight into the daily life of the multinational company: you can enter the factory's press, body and assembly plants, see the engine production process and witness how a bare body of a car is transformed into a ready-to-run car.
Registration is required to participate in the programme.
Handicrafts handed down from father to son are now valued as an art form. A prime example of this is the tradition of blue painting, which is on the UNESCO list of intellectual and cultural heritage, and which has been passed on from the father to son in Győr for five generations by the descendants of Péter Éhling. Their beautiful works can be admired at the Győr Blue Painting Workshop in the city centre.
We can try the technique ourselves and get to know it better at the family's workshop at the Festő Street.
At the Győr Tourinform office, children and adults who want to play games are welcome to discover the city, so you can choose this fun way of getting to know the downtown. The game involves moving from point to point through the city centre using a map to find the answer to the question written for each of the 24 stops. Get the right answer and you'll unlock the number-locked treasure box in the Tourinform office, where you'll find your well-deserved reward.

Few people may know that the inventor of the popular drink, fröccs, was Jedlik Ányos, a Benedictine monk, teacher and physicist from Győr. Relax on a terrace in the city centre and try this sparkling drink, which can also be enjoyed with fine wines from the Pannonhalmi wine region, which neighbours Győr.
