Five Churches Festival

The doors of the Győr-Újváros churches will open for the 20th time before the programs of the Five Churches Festival.

 

"At this festival, there’s no beer, no sausages, but there is a kind of spiritual atmosphere and reverence, along with plenty of opportunities to get to know the faith and love of others. This is our shared celebration, where, year after year, night after night, the lights of another new church in Újváros will glow—lights of tolerance and peace.

 

The distant shine of the stars, the cold light streams of the metropolises, cannot compete with the light from the church windows in our homes, because these churches are the temples of our shared culture, monuments to our shared fate. These walls preserve the joyful moments, great pains, and, for the twelfth year, the memories of our festival. These are our lights, shining farther and farther every year, sparkling and reflecting stronger and stronger in the eyes of more and more people, night after night."
