Henri Gonzo and the Papírsárkányok, playing richly arranged, film-score-inspired chamber pop songs, are one of the freshest Hungarian voices in the Budapest underground music scene. The band will not only give their first concert in Győr at our festival but will also perform in a church for the first time.
Henri Gonzo, as the leader of Fran Palermo, has been one of the key figures in Hungary’s pop music scene for over a decade. After the success of their third album in 2020, however, a change was needed, leading him to form a new band. Henri Gonzo and the Papírsárkányok invite us into a classical-influenced world, with poetic, verse-like Hungarian lyrics, classical arrangements – performed by musicians with classical music studies – and a quieter, more introspective musical landscape. Henri’s lyrics are inspired by literary influences ranging from György Petri and Arthur Rimbaud to ancient Greek poetry, and the music is a blend of pop and classical influences.
