Musical Equestrian Theater Show

 

A truly unique performance with 87 contributors and actors, 3 historical reenactment groups, and over 30 horses — this is “St. Ladislaus, the Knight King”, a spectacular show taking place at Rodeo Ranch in Gyirmót on June 28 at 9:00 PM as part of this year’s St. Ladislaus Days in Győr.

 

The equestrian theater production tells the story of one of Hungary’s most iconic historical figures — St. Ladislaus, one of the greatest Hungarian kings. The show presents thrilling, historically accurate scenes live and without cinematic tricks.

 

The event is accompanied by free side programs starting at 5:00 PM, offering great entertainment for all ages.

 

In 2019, this equestrian theater show — depicting the life of St. Ladislaus — even went on an international tour.

 

It tells the story of a man and a king respected by all his soldiers for his stern, upright character, and for his victories in battle and knightly tournaments. A man who could see virtue even in his enemies, and who managed to win the loyalty of the Cumans.

 

Inspired by an action-packed script sent by Szilárd Tóth, head of the Győr Devil Riders, composer György Derzsi created the musical interpretation of St. Ladislaus’s story. With six months of dedicated work, and the help of lyricist Kati Pesty-Nagy, the production was born — offering not only refined musicality and catchy melodies, but also intense theatrical experience, rich in equestrian stunts and battle scenes.

 

Trick riding, acrobatics, horseback stunt elements, and combat scenes bring to life the special world of the 11th century. Real weapons, galloping horses, duels — a rush of adrenaline and visually realistic action.

A true spectacle that blends theater and show: dancers, lighting effects, smoke machines, and fire enhance the immersive experience.
