A Love Story Through Time, a Fairytale Festival: The 32nd Baroque Wedding is Coming

 

On August 8 and 9, we will evoke 17th–18th century European culture in the beautiful downtown area. There may be no other era as emotionally rich as the Baroque, where romance was more than just a passing whim. This style permeated architecture, painting, sculpture, music, literature—even fashion.

 

Passion, celebration, at times illusion—spectacle and emotion that continue to influence our senses to this day. It’s this excitement we relive at one of Győr’s most iconic events: the Baroque Wedding. In 2025, its highlight will once again be the spectacular procession and wedding ceremony, surrounded by dancers, costumed performers, and festive street theatre.

 

This historically inspired adventure enchants with its colorful world in the sultry heat of summer. Folk heritage groups, dance ensembles, and market comedies create a setting where the fairytale comes true—as the romantic Baroque couple says “I do” before their costumed guests. Around two hundred cheerful ladies and gentlemen in baroque attire accompany the bride and groom on the greatest journey of their lives, with a ceremony that echoes far and wide—fit for a fairytale kingdom.
