III. Lighting the Advent Candle

The JOY candle
Advent candle lighting is one of the city's most intimate and unifying traditions. Every Sunday, residents gather at the Advent wreath set up in Széchenyi Square, where a choir from Győr performs a festive program and the candle is always accompanied by a speech from the leader of a different religious denomination. The communal singing and cooperation between denominations creates a special, peaceful atmosphere in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
