Lea Kalisch & Der Šenster Gob

Lea Kalisch & Der Šenster Gob

Start — May 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM
End — May 11, 2026 at 8:30 PM

Jewish music has never sounded this eclectic and energetic before. Four traveling musicians and a charismatic female singer give tradition a new face: Yiddish lyrics, gypsy melodies, rap, jazz, and a delightful touch of humor. A woman as a rabbi? A romance between a clarinet and a violin? What else…

Lea Kalisch is a Swiss-born Jewish singer, actor, producer, and filmmaker who grew up in Zurich and emigrated to the United States at the age of 19. In Switzerland she felt too loud and energetic, while in the U.S. she felt very European.

Der Šenster Gob is a Prague-based acoustic band playing gypsy, Jewish, and Balkan music, traveling across Europe in a romantic green wooden caravan. In November 2022, Lea met them in Zurich’s old town:
A shiddukh fun himl! (a match made in heaven). Since then, they have captivated audiences across Europe at festivals, jazz clubs, and synagogues with their raw, imaginative, and passionate performances.

In September 2024, they released their first joint album, Shtetl Nehsume.
