Greek catholic church

In 1727, rich merchants established the Serbian Orthodox church by rebuilding the church that had been standing since Turkish times.

The special value of the church interior is the iconostasis with a copf-styled frame and the row of benches, also in copf-style. The garden of the simple, proportionate, baroque-style building is surrounded by a wall and reinforced with pillars. There you can see the tombstones of the former believers. At the end of the WWII, the tower of the church was hit by a bomb. In the 20th century, the church became depopulated, its condition continued to deteriorate, and its iconostasis was moved to a museum. The unused building was in a poor condition, but blissfully it was saved from destruction by the 1995 renovation.

In the absence of its own believers, the Serbian Orthodox Church handed over the renovated church to the Greek Catholic Church for use. Its community is slowly but steadily growing, faithfully nurturing its traditions.
