On the opening weekend of Radó Matiné, they’re preparing with a Mini Festival. The first performer on Friday evening, May 3rd, is JAMBALAYA. The program is free! Let’s open this year’s Radó Matiné together!

“The Jambalaya band borrowed its name from the national dish of New Orleans because it feeds off traditional New Orleans music, striving for that authentic sound. The band debuted in 2005, founded by singer, pianist, composer Zoltán Nemes. In Jambalaya’s music and instrumentation, adherence to the chosen style is paramount, which is why there hasn’t been a permanent solo guitarist in the band for years. Alongside their own compositions, they play songs by Bob Shad, Allen Toussaint, Junior Wells, Professor Longhair, Otis Redding, Dr. John, Fats Domino, Johnny Adams in a faithful style. They introduced their album with a concert in 2006 at the Gödör Club. In 2007, they were nominees of the Gundel Art Foundation and performers at the 19th Gronau Jazz Festival. In 2008, they debuted with a live concert at the Merlin Theatre. In 2009, they toured Europe, visiting Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands, while also releasing their first Hungarian-language album. They received the Gundel Art Prize in 2010. In 2014, Miklós Bellák joined the band as a guitarist. In 2017, they released their video live session album. Their latest album, featuring exclusively their own songs, titled Whatever Happens, was released in 2019.”
